Founding Vision & Strategic Approach

GRiD Uganda was established as a community-rooted organisation designed to move beyond short-term interventions toward sustainable, locally owned development. David introduced the Community Philanthropy for Development (CP4D) Model, which encourages communities to contribute resources, knowledge, and leadership to address their own challenges.

This approach strengthens sustainability by:

  • Reducing dependency on external aid
  • Enhancing accountability and transparency
  • Building local ownership of development outcomes
  • Leveraging Indigenous knowledge and social capital
  • Promoting inclusive participation, especially of women and youth

The model reflects a shift from charity-based assistance to empowerment-driven development.
