Who we are

Local leadership. Measurable outcomes. Enabled communities.

GRiD partners with local leaders and communities in Uganda to design, fund, and implement education and community development initiatives. By combining grassroots mobilization with donor partnerships, we translate local initiative into measurable outcomes and transparent reporting across Eastern Uganda.

Our work is guided by community engagement, phased implementation, and continuous learning to ensure accountability, sustainability, and meaningful local ownership.

Working across 4 districts • 80 communities served • 3,200 learners supported

Why We Exist

GRiD works with communities to identify priorities, mobilize local resources, and implement context-appropriate solutions in education, youth capacity strengthening, health, environmental sustainability, and women’s leadership.

We support communities through capacity-building workshops, small-grant facilitation, community fundraising guidance, and monitoring support so locally led initiatives can thrive.

Our approach emphasizes co-design, local accountability, and results-based reporting, ensuring that external support strengthens community assets rather than replacing them.

GRiD promotes Community Philanthropy for Development (CP4D) — a model that enables communities to mobilize their own resources and collectively address development challenges. By encouraging local ownership and participation, this approach strengthens long-term resilience and sustainability.

Why Community Leadership Matters

Each year, GRiD publishes comprehensive annual reports that document our progress, partnerships, and financial stewardship.

These reports reflect our commitment to transparency, responsible resource management, and measurable community impact.

Through these publications, partners, supporters, and communities can clearly see how locally mobilized resources are transforming education and strengthening community resilience.

We believe lasting transformation happens when communities are supported to identify their needs, mobilize their resources, and partner with others to build sustainable futures.
